Beautiful armchair by Maurice Burke for Arkana Scotland 1960s in a rare all-orange color.

Maurice Burke is mostly known for his work on the fibreglass dining chairs and dining tables for Arkana. However, during the 60s, Safari designs were hot in town. Multiple designers made their interpretation on a Safari chair, among which Hans Wegner, Borge Mogensen, Kaare Klint, Wilhelm Kienzle, Arne Norell and Franco Legler. Maurice Burke did it in his own way and the chair was quite popular back in the days.

This specific Safari chair is a rare all-orange edition. The chair consists of an orange painted teak frame and a continuous leather orange cushion for seating and backrest that is hung on the horizontal side bars. The armrests are also hung between the frame.

The chair is very compact and lightweight yet built solid.

All original markings are below the chair engraved on the leather cushion.

About its condition 

The leather is in beautiful condition with only limited wear. The orange color has been remained very well intact. The armrests have been replaced with new matching color skai due to wear. The orange frame has patina in the orange paint yet the wood is in very good condition.
