About the item
A set of gorgeous scimitar dining chairs by Boris Tabacoff for Mobilier Modulaire Moderne (M.M.M.) 1970s. A fine example of modernist space age design by the Bulgarian born but French raised designer Boris Tabacoff (1927-1985) for the French M.M.M. Tabacoff has had its own distinctive style, both in terms of design as well as material use. Tabacoff is strongly known for his freestanding floating design and his daring use of contrasting materials, for example chrome and plexiglass. Although Tabacoff has worked for multiple brands, his work for M.M.M. is certainly of the most appealing and sought after in the design world.
The scimitar set on sale was produced by M.M.M. during the 70s. The chairs rest on a chromed metal foot in scimitar (half moon) shape. The connecting bar is made out of chromed steel as well. The seating part consists of a shaped plywood structure that is upholstered with foam and nubuck-style leatherette in dark brown.
About its condition
The set is in good vintage condition, with some small wear and corrosion on the frames. The upholstery and foam is completely new and the chairs are fully stable. Connection screws between seat and frame are complete and there is no tolerance in between. There are no old repairs on the frame visible either.
