About the item
Designed in the 60s yet build brand new!
“Pierre Chapo’s design for the S10, which was no doubt a reference to Le Corbusier’s LC2, was a big hit when presented to the public. It can be fully dismantled and beautifully combines the paradoxes of complex assembly and a sober, simple design.” (From Pierre Chapo, Magen Gallery, page 158). Pierre Chapo’s design have been heavily influenced by works from from the Bauhaus period and designers like le Corbusier and Charlotte Perriand. By studying his pieces one thing clearly stands out: his focus on details, craftsmanship and the relatively bulky and rigid shapes used in his furniture.
Produced in solid elm and cognac leather, the “S10” model is one of the most elemental works in Chapo’s oeuvre. The chair combines a complex assembly in Chapo’s signature technique, with a straightforward, simple design, resulting in a timeless work.
This item has been build in the Chapo atelier in the South of France, a tradition that is continued on by the son of Pierre and his grandson and features all the original details of the 60s design and matching materials and craftsmanship. In short; an authentic Chapo product but new.
