About the item
A rare set of high back beech wood and abaca rope dining chairs by Adrien Audoux and Frida Minet, circa 1950s. The designer couple Audoux and Minet and very well known for their handmade rustic riviera type of furniture. The main materials they worked with is wood, rope and bamboo (for the sideboards). Their rustic style of design is still relatively light and sober and can therefore be mixed into any midcentury(modern) or even contemporary interior.
This specific set of high back dining chairs is very rare to come by, only few other examples have been found. The set features a beech wood frame that consists of several sculpted elements to provide for a decorative effect. The rope has been woven in a typical zigzag pattern. The chairs have a slightly tiled backrest in order to provide for comfort. The chairs are well-built.
The chairs have been attributed to Adrien Audoux and Frida Minet. One other set of matching chairs have been found, attributed to the designers.
About its condition
The rope is in perfect condition with very limited wear. The wood frame has some marks and traces of use, in particular on the backside of the wooden frame.
