Model 30 by Gijs van der Sluis
A fine example of a lesser-known Dutch designer who had his own style and his own furniture production company in the Netherlands in the 60s and 70s.
Van der Sluis designed multiple great pieces, of which the model 18, 30, 36, 36DLA, 60 and 540, are the most well-known.
Compared to other more well-known Dutch designers such as Wim Rietveld, A.W. Gispen, Martin Visser, Friso Kramer and Cees Braakman, the designs and build quality of the the Gijs van der Sluis pieces are at least equal. His designs resemble Martin Visser the most with the strong cubism and floating armrests, but with his own style and twist.
This example features the floating wood armrests as well, along with a dark grey metal frame and very thick de Ploeg wool fabric. The high back version of the model 30 is quite rare as well.
About the condition:
Both armrests, frame and fabric are all in very good condition.
