About the item
Very cool space age design by Pierre Paulin (1927-2009) only produced during certain years in the 60s. Perhaps the design was too much ahead of its time?
The F555 wasn’t that succesful for Artifort back in the days, hence the short production time and the reason that there is little to no exposure for this model to date. However because of this the design has become rare. And therefore desirable among worldwide enthousiasts.
The chair just oozes modernism; long thin legs produced out of nickel that hold a fully integrated top part whereby seat and backrest are connected through one large metal rod. Although it looks like one piece, it’s actually 2 pieces that are positioned very closely towards each other. Therefore, the seating comfort is simply magnificent.
The entire chair has a strong space age feeling and will likely be a strong addition for any enthousiast.
The chair doesn’t bear any markings however it can easily be traced back in literature.
About its condition
The chair is in a good general condition. Fabric and foam are still in good condition, however the fabric is loose from foam on leaning part (typical Artifort problem). This has no influence on usability of chair. The mint green fabric has been remarkably well preserved with hardly any stains or discoloration.
For a perfect result one might choose reupholstery.
