About the item
This very elegant bar cabinet is of unknown designer and manufacturer however certainly from Belgian origin (as confirmed by the previous owner). It is certainly in the style of Alfred Hendrickx, Pieter de Bruyne and Jos de Mey, however it’s a bit different in details.
The rosewood bar cabinet consists of a polished steel frame that forms the base. The top part is fully covered in a rosewood veneer. The bar cabinet consists of one large cabinet on the right side with key-lock and 2 separating boards. On the left top, there is a bar cabinet with key-lock, separate glass plate and glass plated sides with separate lighting fixture that works once the cabinet door is opened. There are 3 horizontal drawers below. At the top there is a stainless steel strip for decoration and the top is rosewood veneered as well.
The origins of this piece can easily be traced back to Belgium considering on the backside of the bar cabinet, the customer details of the first owner are visible (address in Flanders, Belgium). As well, the original key locks are built by a Belgian lockmaker (Dyla).
About its condition
The general condition of the piece is good and fully solid. The rosewood has been remarkably well preserved without strong discolouration. There are some traces of use on the top board in the veneer. As well, the steel frame has some minor wear visible as well. The glass plate has a couple of minor chips and the glass sides have some discolouration.
